I have been wanting to start a food blog for a very long time now. But because I am really into so many different food related concepts - healthy, budget-friendly, multi-cuisine - partly thanks to being Indian, married to an American of Irish, German and English ancestries(phew), I was having trouble deciding what to focus on. I can't count the number of times I have been asked whether my husband likes Indian food. Well, the answer is that we would not be together if he did not! I probably shouldn't say this but I think he sometimes fantasizes about Indian food. But this blog is not about Indian food alone. It goes without saying that I love the food in America - probably one of the best things about living here. Living here, one is exposed to a plethora of cuisines. You name it, I love it- Mexican, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Ethiopian, Turkish, Greek, Italian... or just plain ol' juicy burgers, pizza and wings. Insects anyone? huh. yeah yeah yeah... been there done that - crickets, mill worms, grasshoppers to name a few. So, no this blog is not dedicated to a specific cuisine. Alright, time to get to the point. Yes, I can get a little carried away when I talk about food. What am I cooking then!!!! A little bit of this and a little bit of that, some healthy, some indulging - cheesecake anyone?
I am starting a food journey, where I will buy an ingredient from my local farmers market that I have never used before and will cook/make something with it. I will keep going down aisles until I have used everything that I can buy at the farmers market. I will post the pictures, provide the recipe, explain how it turned out and write a small description of the ingredient.
This however, does not mean that I will not post other recipes that I want to share. So you will see recipes with exotic ingredients and recipes with not so exotic ingredients. Well, the term "exotic" is very subjective and can mean completely different things to different people, but you know what I am trying to say. Every time I post a recipe that is part of my project, I will say so. Hope you enjoy reading my blog !
